I must say kudos to Ken and the STH comic crew Posted by Highliter on June 24, 2001 I finally got Sonic #98 and...I think that it makes up for some of the idiotic stunts pulled the last few issues. I am, have always, and will forever be a Spaz fan. The pages that feature Shadow were awsome...As was the story. Even though it was a tie in to the demo. I have reason to beleave that the reason the past few issues were so..."Lacking in quality" lets say, just for this issue. I may be wrong, I probably am, but by a glance it looks as much. And on a personnal note, the most exciting thing to me in issue #97 was the fact that Mr.Nelson only did part of the story and Harvo did the rest. I prefer to have Fry back...At least he can draw facial expressions. And, I'm late in saying so, Happy One-Oh Sonic! Love the man's Furries, but why does shadow look like a robot? I've seen pics of him floating around Japanese pages & he looks like a test-tube creature to me^^;; : I have reason to beleave that the reason the past few issues were so..."Lacking in quality" lets say, just for this issue. I may be wrong, I probably am, but by a glance it looks as much. I'd pin it on that Kux story, the rest was fine. : And on a personnal note, the most exciting thing to me in issue #97 was the fact that Mr.Nelson only did part of the story and Harvo did the rest. I prefer to have Fry back...At least he can draw facial expressions. Our stores only stocked #96 & #98, isn't that dumb?^^ ------ My Particular Praises for S#98 Posted by Ian Potto While Spaz's art was...okay...I greatly appreaciated the story. It fit with the past continuity, and it was actually a little more indepth than that of the game itself. As for the story of Maria and Shadow, I have to admit I was impressed by Ron Lim's work. I have never been a fan of his work, and I have been quick to chastise him in the past, but this time around, I was quite satisfied with his work. The funny thing is, I don't think there was one clear look at a Fur in that story. Says something, doesn't it? --- Ron Lim. Posted by Alliyah I think it's cute the way he draws Tails & Knuckles, only he makes Athair scary, but old men are scary anyway, at least where I live...... ------ Have to say I agree... Ditto on the Spaz art; I still don't see what's rwrong with him changig his style after, what, 6 years? If I still did the work I did 6 years ago... o.O Not a pretty sight. Plus, I liked the coloring on this one; it seemed far more vibrant then the past few, plus they had the block coloring thing, making it look great to me. : I have reason to beleave that the reason the past few issues were so..."Lacking in quality" lets say, just for this issue. I may be wrong, I probably am, but by a glance it looks as much. Maybe, but I doubt it. They're probably rushed for issue 100. : And on a personnal note, the most exciting thing to me in issue #97 was the fact that Mr.Nelson only did part of the story and Harvo did the rest. I prefer to have Fry back...At least he can draw facial expressions. *smiles* Harvo's another one of my fave artists, even if he doesn't do it as much, but they shouldn't of switched in the middle of the story... --- To be honest... Posted by Astal I actually like Nelson's work in #97 much more than Harvo's. Nothing against Harvo's style, but the only thing I liked more on his work was Snivley. Everything was just so...rushed and sloppy looking. Nelson had a more polished look (dispite what Sonic's saying, I really liked page 2) and everything else looked cleaner. --- Posted by Bune Yeah, because Harvo's style is all over the place as it is when he rushes, and Ribero's is compact and looks better. It might've been Ken's inking. Nothing against Pam Eklund, just that sometimes Ken's lines are smoother and more definite. ------ ------ I must be screwed up in the head... Posted by Rex Killiante Cause I actually thought that Sonic 98 was good. I mean, I don't have SA2 yet or anything, so I might be a little off in my opinions. But the artwork kicked @$$, and there was plenty of much-needed action. It had a dark appeal to it, especially the scenes with Shadow(very appropriate). And hey, did Rouge look -fine- or what?! =D --- Sonic #98 Posted by Dr. Robotnik I thought it was good too. I'm still waiting for my SA2(c'mon Amazon), but I thought the writing was pretty good in both stories. The art in the cover story I didn't like very much, and a lot of the cover story was a transcript of the demo disc, but something in the story worked for me. BTW, it's Shark Week on the MB ------
