Sonic #88 - DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T LIKE SPOILERS

Man, it's fun getting comics early! ^_^ Anyways, spoiler time:

After the FF's return to Knothole, King Max (wearing a really cool suit of armor) informs
them of Elias' capture by the ShadowBots, his plan to storm Robotropolis to rescue him,
and Queen Alicia's ongoing surgery. Sally storms off in anger because she wasn't
informed of this sooner, and Geoffrey stops Sonic from going after her, so they can plan
to rescue Elias. King Max orders Antoine to stay behind, because of the injury he
sustained in #84. Bunnie is more than happy to stay with him. 
Sally, Sonic & Geoffrey meet up in the O.R. where Queen Alicia is, and then the FF's, the
Secret Service, and the Royal Guard, led by King Max, head to Robotropolis. 
Once they reach the city, the Mobian force dominates the hordes of ShadwBots thrown at
them, trying to reach the control room. Uncle Chuck learns of the disturbance, and orders
the ShadowBots to throw Elias in the roboticizer.
The Secret Service take out more of the 'bots, and Sonic, Geoffrey, and King Max reach
the control room, confronting Uncle Chuck, who reveals Elias in the roboticizer.
Back at Knothole, Antoine requests a leave of absence, so he and Bunnie can find his
father in the Kingdom of Mercia. Amy Rose wishes to go too, because she was born in
Mercia, and her cousin, Rob 'O the Hedge, is there. Sally allows them to leave, and she
and Rosie wish them good luck. 
Just as Uncle Chuck is about to activate the roboticizer, Sonic gets in his way, but is
tackled ny Muttski in the process. King Max orders Chuck to stand down, then Geoffrey
fires a crossbow bolt at him, holding his hand to the wall. More ShadowBots advance
towards Geoffrey and the King, and, with a mighty "SHLIKT", King Max slices one of them
in two with the Sword of Acorns. Geoffrey and Wombat Stu get Prince Elias out of the
roboticizer, and King Acorn blocks Uncle Chuck and Muttski's escape route. Suddenly,
Chuck and Muttski's mind control wears off, and neither of them know what is happening.
A ShadowBot hits a button on the control panel, and the wall swings open, capturing both
Uncle Chuck and Muttski. Another ShadowBot punches King Max in the back of the head,
probably as hard as it could. Sonic, screaming "RAAAGH!", tears the 'bot to pieces. Stu
and Geoffrey have to restrain him, and hurry back to Knothole, to get the king medical
attention. 
Back at Knothole (again), Dr. Quack cones out of the O.R., telling Sally and Rosie that the
surgery is complete. But, before he can say anything about the Queen's condition, Sonic
bursts in, with an unconscious King Max in his arms.

Now for the Knuckles story:

Knux stirs to life on the piece of floating debris he laid on in SSS #14, and is, in his own
words, totally clueless. The Floating Island is nowhere in sight, and he has no idea what to
do. Then, a ghostly image of Athair appears before him, telling him to head to Albion, and
have Rob O' the Hedge as his guide. After Athair disappears, Knuckles is still clueless
about how to get to where Rob is, until he remembers the guiding star gem. He gets it out
of his glove (and it looks nothing like the GSG in Knuckles #12, it looks like a Chaos
Emerald shard), and in a flash of green light, he's off to Mercia.
In Deerwood Forest, Rob O' and Mari-An, who now have a baby (I wish I had a scanner,
cuz I'd post the pic of the baby if I did; it's so CUTE! ^_^), are lving in a treetop hut. Rob
senses an intruder, and is out the window, searching. He sees several shadows, one who
he thinks belongs to the Highsheriff, and fires an arrow. One of the "intruders" is Antoine,
whose sleeve the arrow hits. After an odd interlude between Rob and his cousin Amy, the
hedgehog believes that Antoine is "the vile deceiver who 'witched poor Rose" [her
sudden change of age (Sonic #68) confused him, since he only knew her as a 10-year old).
Knucles shows up soon after to set things striaght. Antoine tells Knuckles of his and
Bunnie's quest to find his father, and Knuckles says "he can relate". After pointing
towards Albion on the horizon, Knux believes that their meeting there is more than a
coincidence.

Whew, that was long!

Fry's artwork is brilliant in the Sonic story, as is Butler's in the Knuckles one. I believe this
is one of Karl Bollers' better stories, with a strong beginning, middle, and ending. The
thing is, we don't know if Queen Alicia is dead or alive. I can't wait to see what Knuckles
and the rest find in Albion, but I bet it'll be big.

A MUST BUY ISSUE!!

If you haven't been collecting the comics lately, I highly suggest picking this one up! I got
it yesterday as well, and I LOVED every bit of it! Fry's art is a bit weird with the more-shall
we say, geometric style, but I still love it! Did anyone else think that it might be too soon
for the Rob O's to have a kid...? I saw a big plot hole there...

I screamed when I thought Elias was going to be robotocized!! EEEKKK!! That would
SUCK! Thank Ghod he was saved by the ever-handsome and noble Geoffrey St. John
(okay, so that's a bit off of what actually happened, but so? ^^). Does anyone have a
bigger image of the next issue's cover I can look at? I can hardly tell what's going on.
Looks like Sally's yelling at Sonic with someone--Geoffrey?--behind her looking all smug.
^^ Poor Sonic--Yay Geoffrey!

BUY THIS COMIC IF YOU KNOW WHAT'S GOOD FOR YOU! IF THEY KEEP UP
EXCELLENT STORIES LIKE THESE, I DON'T SEE THE COMIC GOING AS FAR
DOWNHILL AS SOME OF US SUSPECT!!

Now I'm sad Steven Butler is leaving :( And to think, I used to hate his art!

Sonic and Tails met Rob during the beginning of their stint away from
Mobotropolis/Knothole (and it was the ONLY part of their stint that I liked). They were
gone for about 5 months supposedly. Then between Sonic #68 when they returned to
Sonic #75 when Robotnik took over, was about 2 months. And the Knux timeline is the
same and they crossed paths again during SA, so Rob and Mari-An had enough time to
have a kid. ^_^

Hmm... Well, here's what True Red said over at her MB at Knuckles Haven:

"Rob and Mari-An fell in love at first sight back in Sonic #58 (between Knuckles #11 and
#12), which was at least two and a half years ago in our time. In comic time, it's been a
whole lot of months since Sonic and Tails were gone from Knothole--for around 5 months
supposedly--(which puts us to Sonic #68 ) and then there were about two months of peace
until Eggman took over (Sonic #75). The Knuckles continuity follows the same time frame
as Sonic's, and they collided with the SA adaptation (Sonic #79-84). Basically, enough time
has passed for them to have a child. "

I agree with her.

Thanks for clearing that up, DC and Red... I have absolutely no concept of passing time...

And thank you for the cover image!! I was right! ::Chuckles:: GeorgesGeorges, does
Geoffrey look hunky!! ^^ Of course, the Geoff in *my* fic woulda' been beatin' himself on
the head for letting the king get hurt... ::Shrugs:: OL, he's still way hot.
