Chaos Emerald(s) Theories (Posts originally appeared at Ken's Messageboard) Silver Emerald Power!!! Posted by Catrina on March 05, 2000 Just thought it sounded cool. Wonder if there is anything more powerful than a Chaos Emerald(maybe 7 chaos emeralds, a super emerald, or another chaos stone?) --- Actually... Posted by Dr. Robotnik There are seven super emeralds that needed to be charged in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, once they were charged the Master Emerald started glowing(I'm guessing that the Super Emeralds were supposed to be kept seperate from the Master Emerald, and Chaos was awakened when the energy increased). The power source you don't hear very much about is the 6 Chaos Rings and Master Ring. Then there are the 7 Time Stones. --- Theory on Chaos... Chaos is like the Guardian of the chaos(those little blue things you raise) Other than the fact that he is just really angry almost all the time, I think he is angry because because of the poor little chaos getting hurt(maybe we knew that already :) ) But Chaos does look like an echidna a little bit. I named my main chao Usagi. I like calling it Usagichao. For more inspiration, try watching the ending in Japanese with English sub-titles. There are minor differences. --- And let's not forget... Posted by Ian the Potto ...the ever elusive Gold Chaos and Super Emeralds. What? You know not of these mystical talismans? I forget the code exactly, but it involvse sound test (1F comes to mind...) and the level-select code for S3+S&K. Then you go to the special stage and play two unused courses. Your prizes are the Gold Chaos Emerald or the Gold Super Emerald. Just to let y'all know ;) SYOTFS, Ian the Potto --- I think they changed dialog in the English version + Chaos theory Posted by Dr. Robotnik Chaos used to be a chao, then he became a Chaos Chao, then just Chaos. No matter what Eggman said, Chaos is more of a subgod. His energy comes from the Super Emeralds. The Super Emeralds enhance his abilities, but don't offer him much protection. He intimidates through size, really. Since the emeralds increase his power, being in the Master Emerald wouldn't be enough to hold him. I think Tikal seperated him from the emeralds so that he couldn't use their power to free himself. Knuckles wouldn't have known this, but Eggman might have. In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Knuckles takes Sonic's emeralds(the ones he collected in Sonic 2) probably so he could give them to Eggman. Eggman wouldn't have offered the real reason for needing them. Yes, he used the Master Emerald to power the Death Egg and Dark Eggman(Metal Robotnik), but that's probably not all he was going to do with it. Anyway, when Sonic brought the chaos emeralds to Hidden Palace, they brought the forms of the Super Emeralds to their charging locations(the places where they can charge the Master Emerald). Sonic jumped on each one to get a chance at energizing it. When they were all energized, the Master Emerald started glowing again. I think Chaos was awakened at this point, and I think Eggman figured out about when Chaos awakened in Sonic Adventure so he could make a deal(where both sides planned to use each other, but neither one knew it). In Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Super Sonic's energy would have combined with Chaos' energy to make Hyper Sonic. At the end of S3&K, Knux probably figured that the emeralds weren't necessary and tossed them over the side while the Floating Island moved. Chaos was charged enough to break out and at the beginning of Sonic Adventure, he broke out. : Other than the fact that he is just really angry almost all the time, I think he is angry because because of the poor little chaos getting hurt(maybe we knew that already :) ) Chaos probably felt like he both let the Chao down, and allowed someone to get the best of him. That would make him extract his revenge on whoever is in the area. Chaos is probably a little bit psychic(and why not, he's a subgod)and figured he found someone(Eggman) who was willing to unknowingly feed his destruction. Chaos didn't need Eggman, but Eggman made Chaos' work just that much easier. --- i ONLY play in Japanese with English sub-titles.. Posted by Ian J. FWIW: I couldn't shake the feeling that Chaos, for all his power, is a fairly simple being, lacking even the power to communicate. In that respect he'd resemble the child-like Chao. When the Chief's troops ran over the Chao, Chaos would have understood that and gone into a simple brain-stem-powered rage. And when the Chao emerge at the end of the game, Chaos seems to be pacified once again.
