(Originally posted at Rexy-K's SatAM Sonic Haven) Rex Killiante ezOP Has anyone here seen Sonic 96? Gawd, it sucked. The artwork--horrible. The plot--unsatisfying. The common sense--non-existant. I mean, you'd think that a HUGE deal would be made out of there being a Shadow Bot rampaging through Knothole, but nope, Sonic just treats it like an everyday task; like he's done with everything lately. For Chrissake, imagine the security problems! Robotnik probably once again has the exact location of Knothole in his hands! And not due to his genius this time, but due to the late stupidity of the royalty(not to mention the Archie writers)! What did YOU expect to happen upon plopping a gigantic, highly-visible castle smack dab in the middle of a secret military base?! A lot more than that weak little attempt, I'm sure. See, the writers for the Sonic comics have really screwed things up lately because of one thing: they are breaking the principles that defined SatAM in the first place. Let me list 'em just to make matters clearer: 1. SatAM is about GUERRILLA WARFARE. Which means don't send in a massive army to take care of the task at hand(read Sonic #88 ) . This whole load of crap with King Acorn's paralysis would never have occured if he hadn't done that. 2. Snively and Robotnik are the ONLY humans. It was said so in SatAM. It is a waste of time and effort to put in new humans that will tie your writers up just thinking of uses for them while managing the other characters. 3. All main characters stay EQUALLY important, and more so than the minor ones. I have seen too much of the main cast give way to the minor characters recently(coughMinacough). Especially Rotor and Dulcy. Rotor now seems to just make cameos, since he's been replaced by Nate Morgan. And Dulcy; I haven't seen her since #77; 19 issues ago! 4. SONIC DOES NOT GIVE IN!!! (except to Sally, and then again, rarely) The real, SatAM Sonic would never listen to an upstart like Geoffrey. And he would NEVER let anyone get between him and Sally. 5. Bunnie is not a Mississippi ho! So quit drawing her that way! The least thing you want to do is give new readers the impression that she is something that she truly isn't. 6. Sally knows everything about fighting a war, as she portrays cold, hard reason. In her SatAM personality, she would sooner backslap that b**** of a mother she has than listen to her talk of leaving Robotropolis to Robuttnik. Robotropolis is MOBOTROPOLIS! The war against Julian will NEVER succeed with that attitude. 7. I could listen other reasons if I thought hard enough, but I'll leave that to you guys. Plus, they are disobeying their own rules! It was stated earlier in the comic series that the training of the Freedom Fighters was completed before Julayla even died. So why the heck are they going to high school now? "Beware the Typo Demons!"-LR RMA Rifle Team Lackey: Fishburne?! You guys suck! Salimbene from Fishburne Rifle Team: Hey kid, we've got guns in here! Hobbs: Holy Crap! It's spinning! Top: What did you put on the roof? Sam Leiss: Sonic for President, 2004! Kiks: Gangsta gangsta! Midence: Kick it, damn it! Kick it! Gearhart: "Ask me about my smell!" :P Me: "Please Do Not Defecate in the Restrooms!" ;) ------ TailsWithAttitude Registered User Rant! Rant! Rant! The Archie Comics have really gone down hill in basically everything. Ever since the king came and started telling the Freedom Fighters that they couldn't fight Robotnik. What is the book supposed to be about if they can't fight Robotnik? Now they basically do nothing. Little excitement, and bad story lines. I haven't liked any of the characters that they threw in. And I especially didn't like how they had Mina on the cover of that shcool issue! One of the original charaters should have been there, while she could have been in the background! Besides a bad story line, the artwork just keeps getting worse. Why do they let these awful artists do the drawing, yet when a perfectly good artist asks to work for them, they don't even reply. I'm fed up with Archie comics, and I should probably stop now. This would turn into a major flame post if I went on! Bye, TWA ------ MoKat Registered User Have StH#96, will flame... >The artwork--horrible. I never liked Nelson's work. But I've seen worse *cough*StH45 *cough*SSS#15*cough* >The plot--unsatisfying. Keep in mind that the comic was never intended to be an extension of SatAM. Still, it's rather bad when a comic craps on its own basic premise, let alone its continuity. > Let me list 'em just to make matters clearer: >1. SatAM is about GUERRILLA WARFARE. Especially Rotor and Dulcy. Yeah, where the hell -is- Dulcy? I haven't seen her in 'bout 20 issues. >Rotor now seems to just make cameos, since he's been replaced by Nate Morgan. *nods* One of the major reasons I don't like Nate. >And Dulcy; I haven't seen her since #77; 19 issues ago! Okay, so it's 19. That's close to 20. >4. SONIC DOES NOT GIVE IN!!! True, true. > 5. Bunnie is not a Mississippi ho! So quit drawing her that way! When I first read Drazen's review of #95, I thought, "Just a temporary gag; you're making too big a deal out of it, Dan." After reading #96, tho', I'm starting to worry that it may -not- be temporary *shudder*. Then again, the cover of StH#100 gives me reason to hope that she won't be keeping that cruddy look >The least thing you want to do is give new readers the impression that she >is something that she truly isn't. VERY good point! One of the reasons I liked her was that fact she wasn't (in SatAM, at least) some sterotype that went around spoutin' off lame cliches. She was a kind, low angst, decent sort--not some trashy tart! >6. Sally knows everything about fighting a war, as she portrays cold, hard reason. >In her SatAM personality, she would sooner backslap that b**** of a mother she has >than listen to her talk of leaving Robotropolis to Robuttnik. *nods* >Robotropolis is MOBOTROPOLIS! The war against Julian will NEVER succeed with that attitude. Very true! Robotnik is -still- a threat. Even with the rest of the royal familiy in dire need of a wake-up call, Sally wouldn't sit around & try to ignore the situation in hope that it would just go away! *looks down & notices that she's standing on a soapbox* Heh. How did -that- get there? *steps off the soapbox* ------ TailsWithAttitude Forum surfer, Herald of the unknown role playing game, Fan of the cool little fox with two tails! Good flaming! I agree with all your points! Hmm, If I counted the number of scenes that each character got from the very begining of the book. I think that the number of scenes that Nate Morgan and Mina have would be more than Rotor's and definitly more than Dulcy's. Actually, I could probably count the number of Dulcy's scenes on one hand.
