Knuckles: Twenty Years Later Misconceptions & Other Things

Now that I'm back from the west coast, I thought I'd take a 
few minutes and address a couple of subjects before getting 
back to inking SONIC #89.

First off, I'm very happy Lara-Su met with the approval of 
the vast majority of you. Talk about creating under 
pressure... I had a very good idea how I wanted to depict 
her, but it wasn't until T2 asked me for a sketch that I 
actually committed anything to paper. The glasses were the 
final touch I was missing, and Noele herself provided the 
inspiration for that. 

Then there's the matter of Julie-Su. Even though she has 
less cybernetic implants later in life than she does now 
doesn't mean it implies she became some domesticated 
housewife. Granted, I open up the story with a doctor 
telling her she's pregnant, but that was simply to tip off 
the readers immediately that this story is going to be 
unlike any other Knuckles story they've read. She's every 
bit Knuckles' equal regardless of her condition, a point I 
make abundantly clear. As for whether or not they're 
married, that's a separate topic, and one I really can't 
address in plain english.

Regarding the Dark Legion, I think everyone will be quite 
intrigued to see how they're portrayed in this. (On the flip 
side, I think events in Albion -- see SONIC #88 through #90 
-- will paint a different picture than readers expect.)

At the moment, I'm also inking the covers to SONIC SUPER 
SPECIAL #15 and SONIC #91, as well as sharing inking chores 
on SONIC #90 with Andrew Pepoy. Karl and I will be gearing 
up for SONIC #100 very shortly. One other note: while inking 
the pages for SONIC #89, I was stunned when I saw what Karl 
wrote, and I think no Sonic fan is going to want to miss 
this. (I suspect page 15 will be very sought after by 
original art collectors.)

In other news...

I was gratified by the very positive response by many 
readers to my series THE LOST ONES. I hope to have the 
website updated shortly after I finish inking SONIC #89 with 
a sneak preview of THE LOST ONES #2, as well as news of its 
release and other special LOST ONES projects in the works. 
Due to the tough conditions in the marketplace, it's hard 
for me to give exact dates, but I'm working to keep it going 
no matter what.

On another note, I've gotten involved with a film project 
created by a very special individual, one who's a 
world-class rock climber and martial artist, who has also 
appeared on magazine covers around the world among his many 
accomplishments. I should have more details very shortly 
about this project which I think a number of you will be 
interested in.

There's more, but it'll have to wait for now. Keep checking 
back for further details.

Personally, I think the glasses make her look like she stepped out of the 80s...and
seeing as I love the 80s, well...I like them =P

I actually took this to mean a second child. I assume Knuckles is the father, but then
the unaddressed topic of their 'marriage' may mean they've seperated and she's
with another guy (though I hope not). But it doesn't sound like it, considering she's
his equal...

Thats ok w/ me Mr. Penders. but willl the chaotix have kids too? Or willt hey be
dropped of the story list like in KTE #23-24?

Hehe, I wasn't really implying that since she had lost 
some of her nifty lil' attachments that she -had- to turn 
out to be as such. Just kinda worried me that Julie-Su 
would be pushed into the back of all the action with her
daughter taking over as the head hard-as-nails hottie.

Sounds interesting already. I've always been a 
supporter of the idea that Knux and Jules (Julie-Su, not 
Sonic's dad) shouldn't be traditionally 'married'. 
However, if you mean to have her pregnant at 15/16 
years old, I don't know what kind of response you'd 
have. I -can- say that it wouldn't be positive from my 
standpoint. Hopefully the story starts out 5-10 years into 
the future then leads into the 20 years later arc... or 
follows the course of the years leading up to it... Hey, 
that's even better.. :)
