E-FILES: The Mystery of Guardian Janelle-Li (Athair's mother) Posted by Lt. Kari-Me of the E.S.T. on February 09, 2000 *Sigh*Here I am, stuck with yet another desk job t'day. Geez, I guess that's what I get for ticking Gamma (Not E-102) and Remington off. Well anyways, here's the scoop: As you know, Jenelle-Li was the only *Bummer* female guardian. Kiki-Le, after going through some files, discovered that she died relatively young for a guardian. What's more is that her death is a big mystery. Judging that there are some guardians *Grumble that they are a bunch of grumpy old men* still alive that are much older than she. Now I'm stuck in here instead of chasing down the crooks, trying to find some info and theories on what happend to her. Feel free to give me the skinny on what you think. --- Here's what the Potto thinks... Posted by Ian the Potto Hey all. Boy, I sure haven't posted here in a long while. ^_^ Anyhoo, here's what I think happened: Janelle-Li was not the original Guardian. I think Dan Drazen may have said this at some point, but I frankly don't remember and I'm too lazy to go back and check ^_^ So, kudos to him if he thought of it first. Anyhoo, I think Athair's dad was the original Guardian, and let Janell-Li in on the Brotherhood deal. (yeah, I bet that thrilled the guys.) Janelle-Li then became a semi-active player in the Guardians' work, and 100% more active than any other wife of a Guardian. Somehow, the Guardian buys it, and Janelle-Li ops to take over. After some major flamming between her and the Brotherhood, Janelle-Li agrees to the secrecy-act that Locke played for Knuckles. So, not being totally learned on the arts of controling the Chaos Emerald, Janelle-Li continued to live as a mortal, and passed away. I'm willing to bet that the Brotherhood shed few tears over that (if my theory was true). So there you have it. The Potto has spoken. SYOTFS, Ian the Potto --- Posted by True Red One little problem with that theory is that we've already been told that Janelle-Li is Thunderhawk's daughter, which would make her a direct decendent of Edmund and a rightful Guardian. Of course, they could forget that they said that and make your theory somewhat accurate. I don't think there's any mystery to her death and it was natural. --- Posted by Sonya Well I've thought about that before and I think Moritori Rex killed her. She might have found out about his secret so then he would have had to or she could have messed up his plans. He tried to kill Knux cause of that. --- Posted by Lt. Kari-Me It isn't stated how she died, but she died VERY young for a guardian. That is why Remington finds her death rather mysterious. --- I'm not sure..... Posted by Sarah-Le da echidnoyle I wonder a bit about that myself. It seemed kinda odd that she would die so young. It made me wonder if only the males were taught to channel the energy in that way. I mean she could channel it, but just not in the way to slow her aging. Hmmm, with any luck we'll find the answers, just have to dig around a bit. --- Posted by Julaya-lu. Alias, !!!*Fly*Girl*!!! Hey everyone being Knuckles half sister, and raised by the old farts, I know a little about Janelle-Li. She didn't have the same channeling abilities that the others have. I feel really sorry for my great-grandmother! She died at like 60 or something like that! I wasn't told that much from Thunderhalk, or anyone now that I think about it! ':-( if you want help on solving this mystery I'd love to! I found out about Spectre's past! (If anyone cares, E-mail me and i'll send you the story) well Gotta fly and dig through more of Haven's computers SEEYA! --- Posted by Lt. Kari-Me *Looks down at Julaya-Lu*"You say she didn't have the same channeling powers? Is that restricted to only *grumble* the male guardians? *Scratches chin* Still doesn't add up because to my knowleedge, all guardians channel the emerald powers, except Knuckles. He's a walking emerald or so I was told. Being second-in-command under Remmington, I know the Brotherhhod, though not as well as he does. Do you have anything else to add to that? --- THAT'S SEXEST!!! Posted by Jenny WHY DIDN'T SHE HAVE THE CHANNELING POWERS? THAT'S JUST PLAIN SEXIST! --- Posted by Guardian Julaya-Lu Alias !!!*Fly*Girl*!!! In Reply to: Re: THAT'S SEXEST!!! she might have not have as STRONG abilityes as the others i've been badgering Thunderhalk about it but it's not a good topic --- I DON'T KNOW WHY SHE DIDN'T HAVE UM JENNY! I know I do Posted by Lt. Kari-Me of the E.S.T. *Chugs down another espresso*So very true. The brotherhood are a secretive bunch, neh? That Jenny is giving me a bit of a headache. Maybe it was sexist and maybe not. Perhaps she should consider that maybe Janelle-Li chose not to channel any powers. Dunno though since I'm not a guardian. --- Re: THAT'S SEXEST!!! Posted by BobR No it's not. Sexist is when you ascribe some trait or personality to only one sex, when it's clear it can apply to both. There may be many valid reasons why she couldn't channel those powers, and it may have absolutely nothing to do with her sex. Or again, maybe it did. Maybe there's something about the female echidna body chemistry that blocks the powers. An organic difference caused by being a different gender is not sexist. There ARE differences in anatomy, physiology, organic chemistry, and many other areas between males and females. Why does one person get a side effect to a medication, when another doesn't? If there were no differences, then either each would get the same side effect, or none. Medical science is just now recognizing that many of the so-called "norms" that have been taken for granted about our physical conditions (body temp, heart rate, blood pressure, etc.) ARE different between males and females, and that many drugs and other treatments developed for male patients are ineffective for female patients. And I'm sure the opposite to that would also be true, if we can get the medical profession to quit using the "male centric model" for their research. Fortunately, some researchers now are doing just that, recognizing there is a difference in the genders. The Vulcans had a word for it: I.D.I.C. Infinite Diversity, Infinite Combinations. Differences should be apreciated, not hidden or suppressed. It's what sets you apart from your fellow human. (And beleive me, there are some humans I want to be set as far apart from as I can. :) Viva la difference! *grin* (Hmm, that last remark might be considered sexist... *grin*) --- Relax jenny. Posted by Lt. Kari-Me of the E.S.T. I didn't wholly read BobR's message fully earlier *Just waking up ya know*, but he does have a point. Though I don't see any difference as far as channeling is concerned, but it's true that the body chemistries between males and females are a little bit different. Also, I don't believe that he is trying to dscriminate. And here's an example, the Military. There are some things that are a bit sexest *Like woman in front-line combat* and somethings that aren't. *Example is a sumbmarine, which I had a tour on one* Why don't they have both female and male recruits on the same sub? It's because that subs have very limited space, and I mean VERY! The only resolution would to have a sub operated by an all-female crew. Instances liekt hat are not sexist, but not permitting females to participatre in front-line combat is. Though women don't have as much physical strength as a man, some of the military is trying to change that *The Marines for example*. So overall, you shouldn't just say something sexist Jenny. Now I do not believe that you should discriminate against sex, race, religion, etc. You should go by ability, and praticality. *Whew! Bob, I certainly hope that all made sense. --- --- Ken, do you have any possible clues ot this matter? Posted by Lt. Kari-Me of the E.S.T. *Drinking a hot cup of java and complaining about the paperwork again* We know that Janelle-Li was the daughter of Thunderhawk *a lot of boys were born to that family WHEW!* and gave borth to Aithair. She probably served more time away from Haven than most guardians were ever, but one thing is strange about her death. As we know, guardians usually live well past the two-hundred mark. *Their not immortal now*. Janelle-Li died very young you see because many og her elders are still living *though they probably complain about that back pain that never seems to go away* and she would only be older than Aithair, Sabre, Locke, and Knuckles. What does this mean? She probably died in an accident or by some unknown cause *being murdered by Montori Rex and the DL is a possibility*. Mr. Penders, could you help me with this case is possible? *Chuckle* I like the fun in adding a little bit of an RP flavour to my posts. ---
