A small complaint =P Posted by Pepper-Jie ..Sonic says "gee"...Knuckles says "homies"...anyone else get the strange, eerie feeling that our beloved boys are turning into Pimp Daddies? :p I mean, uhm...I go to school with a bunch of odd boys, and yes- they all have a unique.. ahh...slang...but the only people I know of who say "G" and "homie" are gang-banger types o_o; That may be a bit stereotypical, but that's just based on my personal experience :) Anyways, I just thought it was funny. o.o Now I'm wondering when Julie-Su and Sally will walk around saying "Yo, girlfriend! What up?" ;P *grooves like a homie g...err...wait...that's not right...* o_o...oh well. ^_~ --- Hmmmm... Posted by True Red Actually, just about everyone I know from my hometown (whether they're gang bangers, jocks, the brains, etc.) speaks that way. Even I speak that way when I'm hanging out there, but I speak "normal" to adults and my parents. But it is very out of character for Tails and Sonic to talk that way. I let Knuckles slide because he's with Vector, who does talk "ghetto-style," and Knux could easily pick that up from Vector. My only problems with Karl Bollers are his dialogue and his portrayal of the Freedom Fighters. They've practically become non-existant in the stories. I don't mind his story ideas, many of them are very good, but they're not presented as well as they could be. I think that's one of the reasons I liked SSS #13 so much, besides the two instances of "ghetto" speak (one which I already said I really let slide), I felt that everyone was actually being characterized properly for the first time in a LONG time. Save Our Knuckles http://saveourknuckles.cjb.net --- I must've missed something somewhere... Posted by BobR : I let Knuckles slide because he's with Vector, who does talk "ghetto-style," and Knux could easily pick that up from Vector. You know, when Vector was first introduced, I didn't look upon him as a "homeboy" type. My first impressions were more along the lines of Louisiana bayou and cajun. Which also makes sense as that's a prime stomping ground for crocs and 'gators. But over his periods of exposure in the story line, he definitely seems to have morphed into more of a Harlem gator character...which makes me wonder if he grew up in an environment equivalent to the sewers of New York. *grin* Still, backtracking the character even more, we know he came from the Floating Island, and that the Floating Island lifted off from an area equivalent to Australia...also okay as they have a lot of 'gators in Australia. But mostly in the outback area, which should actually give him an Australian aborigine dialect. Now how would one write that? *grin* --- Re: A small complaint =P Posted by Bumper Just think of how it feels for someone who doesn't know what half of this stuff means! :) Yeah, I know it's been a while since I posted here. I've mainly just been lurking for the past while. I still may not post much here, but we'll see... Bumper --- Karl Bollers And The Wonderful Ghettospeak Sonic Comic Book Posted by WB Within the couse of several issues we have had Tails say "Word Up" (which I honestly LOLed at), Knuckles say homie, and Sonic say Gee While it was funny with Tails at first, it felt contrived with Sonic and Knux. And too much use of it just makes the comic as a whole look stupid and stereotypical. They've never spoken like that before, so why are they speaking it now? As a simple joke its OK - but I'd like for it not to become a staple every issue. Keep it in joke form :P Sonic - "Yo dog whats up" Sally - "Chillin chillin in the double zero m' man. How you doin?" Sonic - "Just kickin it wit my peeps dog" Tails - "WAAAASSSSUUUUUPPPP !!!!" Sonic - "Yo yo G Money, whats up foo?" Tails - "Nuthin much bro. Just pimpin dem h*es and makin some easy money Sonic - "Word bro" Antione - "I'm feelin that yo" Bunnie - "Yo, whats go say we bust a cap up in that Doc Robotnik? Amy - "Word money! I wanna seriously get a piece that action yo!" :P At any rate - at least he's not rampant with it. But that brings up another topic. Karl Bollers dialogue in general sorta sucks. I mean - stuff comes off sorta contrived and forced. --- LOL! Posted by Sarah-Le Dude.. I hear ppl talk like that all the time at school... and to be honest... IT'S ANNOYING!!!!! *calms down* Yes, it is funny for a joke, but not a continuung thing, I tend to walk off when ppl start with the funny talk, I can understand it, it's just that we DO have more intellegent ways to communicate and stuff........ ((o.o)) Speaking off school.. I gots ta go... blah.. ((@.x)) Well, at least I'm a senior this year....... ---
